Unaware of Your Perspective, but Surely like Spending Initial Ten Min. Gazing at Microsoft Windows Boot up
I dont know what would be the reaction of people when they know that I love spending first ten minutes of my office hours watching Windows start up.
However, unlike the above users, if you prefer to immediately start working, following tips can help you to make your Windows start comparatively quickly.
Reduce the load from your slow PC.
Every time it starts, the system loads numerous programs.
For instance all the icons displayed at the bottom of screen, near the clock of your computer are auto-start programs.
Besides these, there may be many more programs on your PC that are autostart but don’t reveal their presence.
The boot up time of your machine is slowed down – a bit or a lot – by each autoloading application. Moreover, as most of these continue running in background, they deteriorate systems performance also.
However, ensure that you can always revert your changes before stepping into the process of eliminating autoloaders. Click the Close option after having created the restore point.
If you use MS Vista, then you should select Start, Control Panel, System. Click System Protection under Tasks, which in on windows right side. Thereafter, the System Properties box will emerge and click on the Create option at the bottom of the Window.
For MS Windows XP users, the steps involve: select Start, type msconfig and press [Enter]. Vista users should select Start, write msconfig in the Search box and then press [Enter].
Now click on the Startup tab. A list of all the autoloading programs, each having a checkbox, will be displayed. You click on uncheck an item and the program will not be loaded at the start up.
Select your autoloading programs. If you like a program to be autoloaded, click on the check option.
First and the most important thing is that you would never want your PC to run without the protetion of firewall, antivirus and other security programs.
Though having these programs installed in your machine may slow down the boot-up and shutdown speed and even lead to conflicts, the cost incurred will be much more in case these programs do not run on your PC.
For other programs, you can use your judgment. The question is not regarding a program being good or bad, its about if it is required to be on all time.
Click OK and reboot after you are over with the decision to ‘Uncheck’ the programs you dont require to autoload. In case of Windows, the loading will be done with a wordy message which appear like an error message.
Simply check Dont show this message or open the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts at the bottom of the dialogue box and then click OK. The wording is a bit different in Vista.
