A Vacation to Australia
We just got back from Australia! Incredible country. Our holiday there taught us a lot so you might find these hints handy:
For the cheapest air fare fly to Melbourne. We ended up saving over $175 on our flight
Much better to travel in summer, ours that is, (their winter), unless of course you’re planning to surf the swells off the Gold Coast. Tickets are only $100 cheaper then. In the south the temperatures are still close to 70 degrees, great for walking around enjoying the scenery.
Be sure and take advantage of the visitor information centers, they possess all the info and recommendations for the region.
Rent a car! Seriously, you want to ?hire? a car. Travelling around in Australia is really easy if you hire a car. Leasing a car is quick and easy and will help save you money in addition to enabling you to discover so much more of the countryside. A few rates to show you what I mean:
Car rental Melbourne (far South): $36 to $71 per day.
Car hire Gold Coast (about Brisbane, the famous surf area): $34 to $60 per day.
Car hire Darwin (far North): $42 to $60 per day.
We made a straight line to car hire Melbourne at the airport directly after arriving. The rental process was so rapid we were on the highway in roughly fifteen minutes. Melbourne’s a wonderful town for museums. We should know as we must have visited every one of them. We also traveled to see the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges, about a one hour journey from Melbourne.
Next on the agenda was a journey from Melbourne to Brisbane where we went directly to car rental Gold Coast. We then put in some time driving, touring all about the Gold Coast. It was breathtaking, and there were numerous excellent seafood dining places.
After the treasures of the Gold Coast we were looking forward to visiting Darwin. You’re there before me! First thing’s first. Visit the folks at car hire Darwin and off to Mindil Beach Sunset Market. The breezes off the ocean were pleasant as it is much warmer here with temperatures in the 90’s. Glad we had a car because it would have been torture to wait for a taxi or bus in the heat.
I can’t wait to go back. It was a wonderful trip but there simply wasn’t time to fit everything in
